These painful headaches often come with several other symptoms, depending on which type of migraine you suffer from. Migraines Without Aura

There are two main types of migraines, those with and those without aura, or visual disturbances. The more common of the two types is the migraine without aura. As many as two-thirds of migraine sufferers present with this type of headache. In these cases, patients have migraine attacks more often, and the headaches more disabling than with migraines with aura. These often occur with symptoms such as throbbing or pulsing pain that is only on one side of their head. Sufferers may also be more sensitive to light and sound, physical activities could become painful or they may experience nausea and vomiting. There are so many different symptoms that it can take a while to get a confirmed diagnosis for some patients.

Migraines With Aura

About a third of migraine sufferers have the type called migraines with aura. This type has a wide range of symptoms that occur before the headache starts. About 30 minutes before the headache begins, there may be a wide range of strange sensations and changes in vision that are a warning that the headache is coming. The symptoms often include seeing a flickering light or a jagged light being visible in the side vision. Other symptoms may include seeing light flashes, blurred vision, clouded vision, having a loss of vision, seeing various shapes and colors, seeing strange effects that look 3D, and seeing areas of darkness.
